Spam checks

Mailyoto scores every incoming message and refuses spam for every alias. You can keep a copy of refused email to download.

Updated 29 October 2026

The spam check runs on every incoming message, on every plan. It refuses spam for every alias.

How the check works#

Mailyoto scores each message with SpamAssassin while the sending server is still delivering it.

scorewhat happens
below 4.5Mailyoto forwards the message.
4.5 or moreMailyoto refuses the message.

A refused sender’s server gets this response, with the real score in place of {score}:

550 5.7.1 Our spam check scored this message {score} and refused it.

The response names the score, not the rules that matched.

Sometimes the check can’t finish while the message arrives. Mailyoto then accepts the message and scores it later, with the same scores. When it refuses a message then, and the score is under 12, the sender gets a bounce.

Keep a copy of refused email#

Mailyoto keeps no copy of a refused email unless you turn on Keep the full content of failed email in your log settings. With it on, each email refused from then on keeps its copy until its log is deleted. Select Download raw message on the log entry to save it. Save an email as an .eml file shows where the switch is.

Mailyoto can’t resend a refused email.

Why the check can’t be switched off#

Mailyoto delivers every forwarded email from its own servers. Mailbox providers judge those servers by the mail they deliver. If Mailyoto forwarded spam for one account, providers would refuse mail for every account.

Mailyoto checks email you send as well. It refuses a message you send that scores 4.5 or more.

Webhooks can skip the check#

A webhook destination can skip the check. Add skip_spam_check=true to its URL:

https://lunavera.com/inbound?skip_spam_check=true

Mailyoto skips the check only when every recipient of the message is a webhook with that option. Mailyoto still checks a message that also goes to an email address. Webhooks need the Pro or Max plan.

When Mailyoto refuses real mail as spam#

  1. Open Logs and search for the sender’s address. A refused message shows as Failed.
  2. Choose Show details. The response names the score.
  3. Send the response to the sender. Their fixes usually sit on their side: SPF, DKIM, a listed sending server, or the content itself.

Mailyoto has no per-account allow list. No sender can skip the spam and blocklist checks explains how to ask us to look at a refusal.

Forwarded email that arrives but lands in your spam folder is a different problem. Forwarded email goes to the Spam folder covers it.
