Your forwarded email lives in your own inbox

Mailyoto runs no IMAP or POP server. When a mail app asks for an incoming server, enter the settings of the inbox your alias forwards to.

Mailyoto forwards and sends email, but it keeps no inbox and runs no IMAP or POP server.

Where your email lives#

Each alias forwards to one or more destinations, such as amina.kone@gmail.com. The destination’s mailbox provider stores the email, and you read it there. Read it in any app that provider supports.

The one copy Mailyoto can keep is part of your logs. With Keep the full content of failed email on, the log entry of an email that fails offers Download raw message until Mailyoto deletes the log. It is a record of one delivery, not a mailbox.

When an app asks for an incoming server#

Many mail apps ask for incoming and outgoing settings together when you add an address.

settingwhat to enter
Incoming server (IMAP or POP)The incoming settings of the destination inbox your alias forwards to.
Outgoing server (SMTP)smtp.mailyoto.com, port 587, STARTTLS, with an SMTP credential from the Sending tab.

The outgoing settings need the Pro or Max plan. Send from your mail app has the settings and links to each app.

An app that accepts a sending-only identity is simpler. Gmail does, through its Send mail as setting: see Send as your alias from Gmail.

Replying without any app setup#

On Pro and Max, Reply from your alias on the Sending tab lets you press Reply on a forwarded email in the inbox you already use. The response is sent from your alias. See reply from your alias.
