Add DNS records in Porkbun

Turn off Porkbun's own email forwarding and add Mailyoto's 2 MX records and 1 SPF record in Porkbun's DNS records.

Updated 29 October 2026

Choose a different DNS provider

Porkbun has its own email forwarding, which needs the domain’s MX records. You turn it off first.

Before you start

  • The domain added in Mailyoto. See Add your domain.
  • Access to the Porkbun account that holds the domain.
  1. Turn off Porkbun’s email forwarding#

Sign in to Porkbun and open Domain Management. If email forwarding is on for your domain, for example lunavera.com, turn it off in the domain’s details.

Porkbun’s forwarding and Mailyoto can’t both receive the domain’s email.

  2. Open the DNS records#

Under your domain in Domain Management, choose DNS.

Porkbun's Domain Management list with lunavera.com and its DNS link marked.

In the list of current records at the bottom, delete every MX record that doesn’t point to Mailyoto. Mailyoto verifies the domain only when all of its MX records are Mailyoto’s.

  3. Add the MX records#

Use the form at the top once for each row below, choosing Add after each. Leave Host blank, which means the domain itself, as the hint under it says.

    MX records
Type Host Answer / Value Priority
    MX Leave blank mx1.mailyoto.com 10
    MX Leave blank mx2.mailyoto.com 20
Porkbun's add-record form with Type MX, Host blank above .lunavera.com, Answer / Value mx1.mailyoto.com and Priority 10.

Leave TTL as Porkbun fills it in.

  4. Add the SPF record#

Set Type to TXT, leave Host blank and choose Add.

    Type
    TXT
    Host
    Leave blank
    Answer / Value
    v=spf1 include:spf.mailyoto.com ~all
Porkbun's add-record form with Type TXT, Host blank and Answer / Value v=spf1 include:spf.mailyoto.com ~all.

    Important

A domain can have only 1 SPF record. If the list already has a TXT record starting with v=spf1, edit it instead: add include:spf.mailyoto.com before its final ~all or -all. See Merging SPF records.

  5. Add the DKIM records (optional)#

You need these only to send email from your domain. Sending is on the Pro and Max plans. Add 2 records with Type CNAME.

    Host
    yoto1._domainkey
    Answer / Value
    yoto1.yotosend.com
    Host
    yoto2._domainkey
    Answer / Value
    yoto2.yotosend.com

Setting up DKIM explains what these records do.

Check the records in Mailyoto#

In Mailyoto, open Domains, choose your domain and open the DNS tab. Choose Check DNS.

The DNS tab after a check, with a tick beside every record and a message below the tables saying the domain is verified.

Each record shows a tick once Mailyoto sees it. When Mailyoto finds the MX and SPF records, the Forwarding pill at the top of the domain shows a tick.

The domain header in Mailyoto with the Forwarding and Sending pills, both ticked.

If a record still shows a cross, check it again later. Mailyoto also checks every domain each day at 02:00 UTC.

If the domain doesn’t verify#

The records are on the wrong name

Porkbun adds .lunavera.com after whatever you type in Host. If a saved record’s host reads lunavera.com.lunavera.com, delete it and add it again with Host blank.

Porkbun's mail servers are still listed

The DNS tab lists every MX record that isn’t Mailyoto’s. Check that Porkbun’s email forwarding is off, delete its MX records, then choose Check DNS again.

There are 2 SPF records

A domain can have only 1 TXT record that starts with v=spf1. Merge them into one, as in Merging SPF records.
